Connector keeps disconnecting

Gmail, Slack, Notion or another app shows Needs auth or Disconnected, or a routine fails because an app signed out. Check the status, re-authenticate properly, then look for a policy or a known issue.

StatusBefore anything: this is Grok Bot’s live state from our checker and the official status feed.Status page →
  1. 1. Read the app's real status

Open Connect apps from the sidebar and select the connected count next to the title. Added only means the app is installed, not that you're signed in. The status tells you what to do:

    • Needs auth or Disconnected: choose Authenticate (Authorize on the phone) and finish the sign-in.
    • Disabled by team admin: ask your Cursor team admin to turn it on.
    • Connected: send the Bot a new message and ask it to try the app again.
  2. 2. Re-authenticate with the right account, within 10 minutes

Finish the provider's sign-in in your browser with the account you intend the Bot to use, within about 10 minutes. App connections belong to the same account you used to sign in to Grok Bot. Then return to Grok Bot and retry the task.

Why it happens: Gmail connects one mailbox at a time. If you authorized a different mailbox than the one the routine expects, the Bot will look disconnected from the mail it needs. Disconnect the current mailbox and authorize the other.
  3. 3. Use the card's own buttons

If an in-chat connect card says it's waiting for authorization, choose Reopen to bring the sign-in page back. If it says authorization didn't finish or failed, choose Retry. If the app's button changes to Reconnect, choose it.

  4. 4. Remove the app and add it again

If it still doesn't work, or access was revoked in the service itself, choose Remove, add the app again, and sign in. Removing an app signs you out and removes everything it added, so expect to set it up again.

  5. 5. Check for a company policy

A company Google account can stop the connection before Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets or Slides finishes signing in. If Google says Your admin needs to review Grok or Access blocked, your Workspace admin has to trust the app named Grok (Grok Bot signs in to Google as Grok, not Cursor). Changing browsers or reconnecting doesn't clear a Google admin block. Some connectors also need an organization-provided variable or admin configuration; that fix is on your admin's side too.

  6. 6. Check the known issues

From xAI's docs, as of the date on this page:

    • Zoom error 4700 (Invalid redirect): authorization from the desktop app currently fails, with no workaround yet.
    • SharePoint AADSTS50011: connect with Delegated permissions instead of application-level permissions.
    • X plugin: private requests (DMs, bookmarks, home timeline) need X API credits on your own X developer account. If console.x.com shows $0.00, add credits there; reconnecting the plugin won't help.
  7. 7. Why it keeps happening

Still failing after step 7?

If re-authorizing completes but the app still shows disconnected, contact support at [email protected] with the app name, or use Support → Send Feedback in the app's account menu. Cursor also keeps a Connect apps help page.
