Hit the Grok Bot weekly usage limit

The Bot stopped and says you hit your usage limit. Nothing is broken. Your options now, and how to make next week's pool last.

~4 minChecked against the official docs

StatusBefore anything: this is Grok Bot’s live state from our checker and the official status feed.Status page →
  1. 1. Make sure it's Grok Bot's meter

Grok (the chat app) and Grok Bot are separate apps with separate meters. A Weekly SuperGrok Limit in the Grok app is not about Grok Bot, and your SuperGrok limit won't match your Grok Bot usage. Grok Bot usage lives on your Cursor account: check it in Grok Bot under Settings → Usage & Billing.

  2. 2. See when it resets

On The X Subscription, open Usage at grok.com/dashboard; the usage view shows how much is used and the next reset date. On a legacy Cursor plan, the Grok Bot app shows Weekly usage limit in Settings → Usage & Billing, and the account menu can show Weekly usage at a glance. If the reset is close, waiting costs nothing.

  3. 3. Decide whether to pay to keep going

    • The X Subscription: past the pool, usage is paid from prepaid credit. Auto Top-up only runs after you turn it on. Set a monthly additional-usage limit under Additional usage credits at grok.com/dashboard/billing.
    • Legacy Cursor plan: turn on On-demand usage and set the On-demand monthly limit in Settings → Usage & Billing. If Grok Bot asks for a card, finish that at cursor.com/dashboard under Spending.
    • Or move to a bigger plan. Our plan guide compares them.
  4. 4. Pause the routines you don't need

Routines spend usage on every run, even quiet ones. Open each Bot's Details tab and switch off routines you don't need this week. A paused routine costs nothing.

Why it happens: “An hourly schedule, a short interval, or a Slack trigger on a busy channel can use a week of usage in a day.” That line is from xAI's own routine docs.
  5. 5. Narrow triggers and widen schedules

Ask each Bot to make its routines less frequent (“twice a day instead of hourly”) and its Slack triggers narrower (one channel, one phrase, not “any message”). xAI recommends doing this before you raise a plan or an on-demand limit.

  6. 6. Make next week cheaper

Still failing after step 6?

If the limit looks wrong, for example you upgraded SuperGrok after linking it, allow up to 24 hours for the Weekly usage limit to move to the new tier. If the old tier still shows after that, contact support with your Cursor account email, your Grok account email and a screenshot of the Weekly usage limit.
